Florida Trip Part 3

Well, I'm not feeling very good lately. But I think it's rude to make my audience wait. So here you are, the third part of my photo series. These are the photos taken in Key West, Florida.

"Dawn"

It was very cloudy that day so the dawn looks cold and lifeless

"Footsteps"

And I left my slippers on the san and walk with my bare feet. And I left my worldly life behind to walk with just memories...

"First light"

And the first ray of light finally appeared. It still was covered by the cloud and the mist of the early day, but beautiful and inspiring nonetheless.

"Heaven, open your door..."

A playful thought when I see a sort of openning in the sky. First pic I focus on my hand and blur out the sky (by the camera focus, not Photoshop. I didn't touch up any of these pics) to depict the feeling of power, of me openning the gateway to heaven. Second pic is the other way round with my hands trying to reach. It shifts the focus: Heaven is leaving me behind...

"Memory"

A photo of me and my brother 3 years ago buried in the sand. Still the beach, the sand and the sea, however, it seems like that young innocent look of mine has been lost forever. The cloudy day had a dark blue casting on the entire pic. I can remove it, but I thought the casting makes the whole thing very sad and nostalgic, which is exactly what I want.

"Free me"

THe view of a soaring bird in the morning sky. I guess I'm always attracted to this kind of view. I always wanted to be free from the chains that are always surrounding me: THe chains of prejudice, of expectations, of lies and of darkness. I want to be that free bird flying to catch up with the light of dawn, the light of life

"Carving"

A Carving of NCBV and our batch number (7) made by the slippers on the sand

"Look up"

It's a photogrpher thingy to try different perspective of photos. This one was taken from bottom up. Yew Zhen looks a little scary, but she has the strong ,independent look. I think it's cool

"Reflection"

THe water was quite clear so I reflected the sun down there. You can also see the wooden log on the dock. I always like to play with reflection and water

"Set sail"

Our boat sailing to the snorkel site. The day was nice.

"Ichirin no hana"

It literally means 1 branch of flower. But I normally refer to it as a lonesome flower. This is the only one in the entire bush that is not yet blossom, that is pale, ugly and forgetten. I wonder how many crazy photogrphers will want to take a picture of it?

"Fountain of wish"

THere was a wish fountain on the way. THere was a statue of a boy kneeling there with a bucket of water. Made me think of Aquarius. How long have you been here? How long have you been kneeling, wishing for a dream to come true? How long have years put those scratches and tears on your little face and little faith? When will you turn into that pigeon and fly freely in the sky again?

"Sunset"

A series of sunset photos in Key West. I shot in 2 different mode, the landscape mode and the sunset mode. YOu can see the sunset mode has warmer and more orange color while the landscape preserves the blue and gray shades of the sky.

"Coming home"

A boat reaching the sun in the sunset. I just miss my hometown where you can see this everyday. Yes, they are coming home...

So there you go, the third part. THere are 2 more to come. Stay tuned

Florida Trip Part 2
Well, finally finished editting all the photos. However, I have 100 photos that can consider to be put here. So well, I will split to a few parts. This is the second part

"Heart"
Another heartshape from nature. This is the cloud that is formed outside of the window. I think I'm just more sensitive to these kind of things
"Feet"
My feet on the car window. I think there's something very fascinating about my feet :)
"Private"
This was a wonderful beach, but sadly it was private. I keep on wondering to myself "Who gives them the right to own nature and ban others from enjoying it?"
"Blue Ocean"
Finally we hit a beautiful public beach. The color is natural, no touch up, not at all :)
"The sky"
Different states of the sky from a day. I'm just fascinated by the color of the sky, everywhere...
"Rainbow in the rain"
It rained a little. And after that there was a beautiful rainbow. The color was quite faint because of the cloudy weather so I enhanced it a little bit. Hope it is not too dark.
"Raindrops"
Rain drops on our car window. I just love moments like these, no setting, no posing. Nature is always the best place to find beauty :)
"Crossroad"
This junction just has damn a lot of traffic lights on and they are hanging in the air. The traffic polices here must be contemporary artists, I guess.
"Little girl and the sea"
Another shot of innocent children in action. I love the wave and the way they come at her. They look very active, very lively together.
"Lady on the street"
A beautiful figure I saw on the street. Well, guess I'm just sensitive to beauty, alive or still life :)

"Life by the river"
A few shots of the normal everyday peaceful life by the river of Fort Lauderdale

See you next time...

Florida Trip Part 1
It's taking me forever to edit the photos I had from Florida. Well, 1300 is not a small number. So I decided to post a few that I've editted first. Hope you guys will enjoy it. Well, I only post photo that can be consider photogrpahy here. The rest of my own pics and stuffs, u can see it in my other blog later, much later :p

"From my window"
Taken from inside the plane. There was this annoying casting of the yellow light inside. Somemore the plane was delayed by 3 hours, so I lost my sunset lighting. I was hoping to take a sunset photo of the cloud. Blame it on my luck then

"Song of nature"
A statue on top of a temple in the sky. I made the sky color a little more blue, since the hightlght of the sun was too strong that day, everything looks kind pale.

"Free"
A little duck running in the theme park. Cute!

"Artificial Nature"
This is a replica from Robinson Cruiso. The scene looks nice, but somehow still a little unnatural.

"Innocence"
A boy with the big blue eyes and he never seemed to be intimidated by the camera. I think I can have a career in photographing kids

"Father and son"

I just love stealing normal people's moments. Another father and son shot. See, most of my candid shots are of fathers. WHere are the Moms?

"Little Princess"
Another candid shot of a little girl next to Cinderella fountain

"Girl of Nature"
Pocahontas model in the glass door

"Magical"
This is a shot from the fireworks display of Disney. Purple and yellow. Just pure magic. Shot in slow shuttle mode so the castle is a bit blur. Forgot my tripod

"Lost"
A little boy sitting by the crowded street of Universal Studio. I was inspired by the expression of lost and lonely, tired and scared. I use saturation to enhance the red and yellow color while I desaturate the street around to enhance the contrast and make the street looks colder.

"Heat"
It was a hot hot day. So they have these big fans blowing out mists to cool us guests down. I kinda like the misty asmotsphere.

"Monet"
Saw this view of a lotus (or waterlilly, dunno) pond in the park. Nice right?

"Ancient Fly"
A ride in the park. I took by sunset mode so the color will be warmer. Well, it actually was sunset.

"Universal"
The globe taken at night. It was turning so my camera has to be set with the right combination of shuttle speed and ISO. Well, still a little bit blurry, but acceptable.

"Trapped"

I know this space is for photos. But I finished a painting 2 hours ago and I want to share with everyone. So here it is...

The meaning of the painting and the write up can be found here

Suburb
My work place is near the suburb. These are a few random photos I took on the way to work. I always bring my less expensive (i.e. My Creative Digicam) along with me everywhere I go so I can capture random moments like these. Each has a story. Each has a feeling of me putting behind it. I hope you will get it.

"Abandoned"
This is a Mc Donald tiny souvenir that is casted away on the street. I took by Macro mode. It's the feeling of being thrown away, being tiny, cold and lonely in a grey vast street of life.

"Summer color"
The bright orange color of summer on the street of Philadelphia. It gives us the feeling of live, of heat and passion of summer
"Bed of Flowers"
I have a blog written about this photo. I use Photoshop to add in the brown layer to give the nostagic, sad and memory from the past feeling. Please read the caption here.

"Age of innocence"
Another shot of flowers. This one is a bunch of wild daisy in the grass. The white color stands out as the pure, innocent color of summer, contrasting itself to the colorful and passionate shades of summer.

So there you go. I'm still editing the photos I took in Florida. It's hard to pick a few from 1300 of them. So enjoy these for now.
See you in next post about Florida :)
